Good web developers are a rare breed indeed.
In the beginning.
When I first started out with 127 Media, nine years ago this coming August, like many business owners when they first set up, I was doing everything myself or trying to, which is probably more appropriate.
Building websites, managing websites, setting up and managing multiple social channels, creating content for socials, writing blog articles, creating ad campaigns and answering first-line customer queries, among other things.
All the while, taking an interest in and learning about the industries and vertical markets in which my client’s businesses sat. While systematically doing the same thing for my own business.
At one point I was doing this for at least eight or ten businesses at once, including my own.
It was tough going but I was determined to make it work and work it did.
Then the pandemic hit and everything went a bit, Pete Tong! But that’s a story for another day.
Back on track.
Anyway, let’s get back to the real reason I started writing this post today, web developers.
After a couple of years of working alone, I knew I had to start looking for support. I took stock of the most time-consuming and least productive areas of the business that were sapping most of my time and decided web development was it.
Knowing it was a skill set best suited to a pro, I set about searching for a web developer.
I’m not going to go into the nuances of each one but, as I mentioned at the start of the start, good web developers are a rare breed indeed.
Over the years, I’ve worked with several web developers on various client projects and mostly, my experiences have been good. However, like many working relationships, they come and go.
The search continued.
At the start of 2022 while looking for a new dev to work with that I had a conversation with an old work colleague. They’d been doing web development for several years and wanted some more work.
I had a look at some of the work they’d done and was massively impressed.
Not only was the quality of their work excellent but they had a real passion for wanting to produce and deliver great work, consistently.
Also, the range of skills they possessed didn’t stop at web design and development, they had honed their skills in e-commerce and web integration too.
I knew they were good when they told me about the work they’d done around e-commerce product feed integration from UK technology distributors. I’d been involved with this very thing, in the previous five years before going it alone and I knew what a pain it could be.
Our first project together was one we have just completed for Core Group Infrastructure and to say I’m happy is an understatement and, more importantly, so is the customer.
Not only is their work first class, but they are also a great communicator and commercially aware too, which, combined, are rare qualities in a lot of techies and web developers. So, I’m super stoked to have them on board and am looking forward to more projects to work on.
Not all websites are created equal.
If you want your web development projects to be successful, you need to work with a good web developer.
In today’s digital age, having a good website is essential for any business. A well-designed and well-functioning website can help attract new customers, increase sales, and build brand awareness.
Here are just a few of the benefits of working with a good web developer:
Customised website design
One of the primary benefits of working with a good web developer is that they can create a website that is tailored to your specific needs. They work closely with you to understand your business goals, brand, and target audience. Based on this information, they will create a customised website design that aligns with your business goals and meets your business needs.
Better User Experience (UX)
A good web developer will design your website with user experience (UX) in mind. They will ensure that your website is easy to navigate, loads quickly, and is mobile-friendly. These factors can have a significant impact on the user’s experience, which can lead to more engagement and conversions on your website.
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
SEO is critical to improving your website’s visibility and ranking on search engines. A good web developer will design your website with SEO best practices in mind, including using proper header tags, meta descriptions, alt tags, and other on-page SEO elements. This can help your website rank higher on search engine results pages, which can drive more traffic to your website.
Faster website development
Working with a good web developer can speed up the website development process. They have the experience and expertise to develop a website quickly and efficiently. This can save you time and money in the long run, as delays and rework can be costly.
Ongoing technical support
A good web developer will provide ongoing technical support to ensure that your website stays up-to-date and runs smoothly. They will be able to fix any technical issues that arise and make updates to your website as needed. This can give you peace of mind knowing that your website is in good hands.
