What's In A Name?
The idea for 127 Media was first conceived in July 2014, by owner Gary Sargent, who was doing a charity walk, in aid of Families Need Fathers, from Liverpool to Leeds, along the tow path of the Leeds/Liverpool canal.
The walk took 6 days in total, starting in Liverpool at 9am on Sunday 20th July and ending in Leeds at 1.30pm on Friday 25th 2014. Apart from day three, when a friend joined him to walk from Chorley to Burnley, the walk was done alone, so there was plenty of thinking time.
The company name comes from the fact the canal is 127.5 miles long, from end to end; but to simplify things it was decided to just use 127. The light blue line, above the wording on the logo, represents the shape of the Leeds / Liverpool canal on a map.
Having spent 21 years working in the IT industry, Gary felt he needed a new challenge and the only thing for it was to set up his own business. With the idea of using his experience in sales & marketing, online presence and eCommerce, to help businesses that are struggling to get to grips with the ever changing digital landscape, get online and get noticed.
The ideas that were hatched and the plans that were made on that long distance walk are now in motion, with the future looking bright for Gary and the 127 Media team.
